Ramsay Garden started out as Ramsay Lodge and was built by the poet and wig-maker Allan Ramsay in 1733. It was developed between 1890 and 1893 by Patrick Geddes, to it's current formation. It is a striking sight when looking up towards the castle from Princes Street.
